Gaston GUIGNARD Bordeaux, 1848 – Paris, 1922 Oil on canvas 24 x 32.5 cm (38 x 46 cm with the frame) Signed lower right “Gaston Guignard” After starting his career as a lawyer, Gaston Guignard devoted himself to painting after the war of 1870. He exhibited portraits, landscapes and animals at the Salon from 1874. He received a medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1889 for his painting “Au verger”. His works are today kept in numerous museums including the Musée d'Orsay, the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux and the Musée d'Evreux. Our painting represents the view of a port, probably Bordeaux.
