Study on the model used in Robert Lefèvre's workshop to create the numerous replicas ordered by the State. Former student of the painter Regnault, Robert Lefèvre (1755 - 1830) had gained a reputation as a portrait painter through the salons where he exhibited from 1791, thanks to Denon he became one of the main suppliers to the Emperor's household and executed numerous portraits of the Emperor in coronation costume or in uniform, he also worked a lot for the imperial family. It should be noted that all the official portraits were approved by the painter in person.
