End of the 15th century - Early 16th century Germany Superb chalice in gilded copper and silver from the period, circular base and shaft with a knot with guilloche patterns, cup in solid silver and vermeil supported by petal endings. This type of knot appears during the 13th century. Iconographic references: The chalice of Hugo d'Oignies The chalice of bishop Hervé (Troyes Cathedral) This knot was widespread until the 16th century. The paten is more recent (17th century), no goldsmith's mark is present but the paten is covered with vermeil. Please note: Accidents and old restorations (base and base) The shaft of the chalice leans slightly.
