End of the 18th century - Early 19th century Greece Sublime trilobed blessing cross in mother-of-pearl carved and veneered on a wooden core, the decorations are in different distinct medallions. Several stages are present, 12 in total, some of which are listed below: The Annunciation The Nativity The coronation of Christ The death of Christ on the cross The resurrection The Cross of blessing is, in the Eastern Churches, Orthodox Churches and Catholic churches of the Byzantine rite, the cross held in the hand by a priest or bishop to give his blessing.
