View of the Pantheon square in Rome, oil on canvas inlaid on panel, dimensions 21 cm x 24 cm, with its 18th century Italian frame: 34 cm x 37 cm, dated 1834, by Giovanni Lucca. Located in Piazza della Retonda, the Pantheon is a mythical monument of ancient Rome. A religious building built in the 1st century BC, it was completely rebuilt during the reign of Hadrian, it is originally a temple dedicated to all the Roman deities. Pope Boniface IV converted it into a Church in the 7th century. The Pantheon supports the largest dome in all of antiquity, with 43.30 m (150 Roman feet) in diameter inside, it remains the world's largest dome of unreinforced cement.
