An elegant and decorative set with this pair of Louis XVI style candlesticks with two arms of lights in finely chiseled gilt bronze.
A known interpretation of Un Amour et Un Faune after Clodion and Delarue, our pair of candelabras represents a Love and a Satyr sitting on tree stumps. The two figures carry in their hands two horns of plenty forming arms of lights in chiseled and gilded bronze with attributes of the vine.
The candelabras resting on a white Carrara marble base with small spinning top feet.
These Candelabras were inspired by original works created in 1770 by Clodion (for the Satyr) and by Delarue (for the Love), and of which a specimen is exposed in the Louvre Museum.
Art, Love and Mythology are united in this Pair of Candlesticks which are a French work of the end of the XIXth century, around 1880-1890.
