DETAILS
Original oil on original cardboard, signed lower left.
A theme that is rare enough for our painter to be mentioned but treated here in a particularly mastered and refined manner.
An oriental scene as ravishing as it is luminous, from which escapes a beautiful sensitivity as well as an unfailing peace; an inhabitant or Bedouin coming from the village that we see in the background, riding his little well-laden donkey, an anon at his side and a second inhabitant further away, behind the small procession. Could it be a small town or a Moroccan Medina located in the middle of the Atlas Mountains or a similar place ? Fans of Orientalism will, without a doubt, form their own idea... Superb.

DIMENSIONS : Unframed : 27 x 35 cm approx. - Framed : 40,3 x 4,5 x 48,3 cm approx.

PROVENANCE : Recognized french public auction house (from private collection).

CONDITION
Painting : Some small dust especially in the sky otherwise in perfect condition.
Frame : gilded, molded and carved, very beautiful in appearance but with a repair at the upper left corner (not visible on the front because located on the top and on the side) accompanied by a small loss, another small repair at the lower left corner (barely visible) and a missing part in the lower right corner (also hard to see because it is located below).

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Paul FLAUBERT was a painter passionate about animated scenes of characters of all kinds, hunting scenes, various landscapes, both urban, rural and lakeside. His pictorial style is very clearly influenced by the impressionist and neo-impressionist (pointillist) movements. which we continually find in his work and in which he has excelled throughout his career. The simultaneous presence of the 2 styles, one defined by a multitude of juxtaposed touches that the painter uses for the execution of the "background" of the work as well as for the environmental part of the latter, the other in a " smoothed” in order to better bring out the figures or subjects he wishes to highlight, as evidenced by this.
An artist gifted with gentle subtlety and obvious delicacy, increasingly present on the global art market and in numerous collections and whose progression continues to prove itself (particularly in the United Kingdom and in the USA).
