View of Danzig or Gdsansk, oil on oak panel, dimensions 27.5 cm x 23.5 cm, with the frame 47 cm x 43 cm, dated 1672, monogrammed WvNy F, Dutch school. German in the 17th century, port city it is one of the cities of the Hanse. After the last congress of the league in 1669, it remained united with the three cities of Lübeck, Hamburg and Bremen, it is one of the most important places for the exchange of goods in the traffic between the East, the north and western Europe. In 1919 the Treaty of Versailles made it a free city, it was attached to Poland after the war and became Gdsanck.
