"Okimono - Fisherman With Child, Ivory, Japan, Meiji Era (1868-1912)"
An okimono, or small ivory sculpture, represents a fisherman, pipe in hand, accompanied by a child. The fisherman stands at the edge of the water from which a fish emerges. In addition to his pipe, he has a line thrower, a wicker basket, a harpoon and a large hat. The Japanese artist very skillfully depicted the details of the sculpture and the contented attitude of the fisherman.

State of conservation as seen in the photographs, good, small loss on the base and at the bottom of the rope wrapping the harpoon.
