"Dukes Of Rohan-chabot, Silver Dish, Aucoc Paris 1880-1910, 27 Cm, Potius Mori Quam Foedari"
Élégant meat dish in sterling silver , dating from the end of the nineteenth century. It is manufactured by Aucoc in Paris. Engraved with the arms of the Dukes of Rohan-Chabot and with their moto "Potius mori quam foedari "( I prefer to die rather than to be dishonoured), it was probably commissioned for the eleventh Duke of Rohan, Alain-Charles-Louis de Rohan-Chabot (Paris, 1844- Paris, 1914), styled Prince of Léon, then, at death of his father, in 1893, 11th Duke of Rohan, was a French officer and politician. He was deputy of Morbihan (Brittany) from 1876 to 1914. The dish has a diameter of 27 centimeters and weighs 570 grams.
