"Exceptional Kashan Mortachem Carpet In Silk, Orientalist, Circa 1880"
This is a Kashan Mortachem carpet of great finesse, designed by the famous master Weaver Mortachemi on royal order. The silk velvet is laid on foundations also made of silk, including warps, weft and fringes. The pattern of the rug is composed of an old gold field, decorated with scrolls of fine branches and stems of palmettes of flowers. The stylized leaves in twists of polychrome color create an effect of relief and harmony. In the center of the rug is a cruciform star floral medallion, in the shape of a multicolored diamond in shades of midnight blue and ruby. The four corners of the rug are adorned with Prussian blue spandrels with polychrome floral crowns. The carpet is bordered by three bands, the main one being ruby in color, adorned with a seeding of geometrically stylized flower bulbs and buds in golden yellow and sky blue. With a density of 12,000 to 13,000 knots per dm, this rug is of high quality and offers exceptional walking comfort. Measurements: Length: 200 cm Width: 132 cm
