circa 1865-1914 Height: approx. 25 cm Terrace: 7.8 X 7.8 cm Weight: 1867 gr. Signature Signed on the back of the embankment on the motif Bronze proof with medal patina composed of several pieces. No lack.
This wine merchant or innkeeper is reminiscent of the Escholier that Émile Picault had sculpted in 1865. Solidly planted on his two legs, his face smiling and wearing a beret, he contemplates with a satisfied air the glass of pewter he is holding in his hand and in which he has just tasted the precious nectar from the bottle he has carelessly replaced in his apron. From his belt hang the keys to the tavern, including those to the cellar where he keeps his ruby-coloured Chinon, his tasty Bourgueil and his white wines from the Côteaux de Loire as soft as taffeta... Until late at night, the shady world of these troublemakers, schoolboys will come to fill their throats in their tavern to make them forget all the canon law lessons they swallow during the day!
