ROME SAINT PANCRASSE'S GATE The Porta San Pancrazio, formerly Porta Aurelia, is an ancient gate in Rome forming part of the Aurelian wall. Located south of the city on the right bank of the Tiber. Famous place of the defense of the city by Giuseppe Garibaldi, it was badly damaged during the fights of 1849 with the bombardments of the French troops. It was completely rebuilt in 1854 by Virginio Vespignani at the request of Pius IX.
