Circa 1860 India for export to France Precious long Indian cashmere shawl in espoline weaving in tapestry stitch with eight colors and remarkable finesse. Virtuoso drawing with a large central black star darting in palms with interlaced and architectural decoration with very strong polychromy. Embroidered signatures of the Indian craftsman in the center and in an angle. Wide harlequin embroidered borders on both ends. These rich shawls were part of the wedding baskets. They adorned the crinoline dresses and decorated the interiors of the Second Empire. Three to four tiny moth holes. Stable and very resistant condition. Excellent state of color and conservation. Dimensions: approximately 362 cm long by 141 cm wide.
