MONNERET (Jean), painter and sculptor born November 27, 1922 in Chalon-sur-Saône (Ec.Fr.). Student of Jean Dupas at the National School of Fine Arts in Paris. His very expressive figurative painting is quickly appreciated by art lovers. The success encountered during the Parisian Salons led him to be elected many times president of the Salon des Indépendants. This same Salon will devote a retrospective of his work to him in 1997 at the Espace Eiffel-Branly. But it is also outside France that he will exhibit as in Geneva, Tokyo, New York, Miami, Houston, Los Angeles. This superb work, a large oil on canvas dated 1968, depicts the port of Honfleur at the end of the day. It bears his signature at the bottom left. Work in good condition.
