Object description :

"Large Empire Period Clock - The Birth Of Napoleon Ii"
Large Maternity clock from the Empire period in chiseled and gilded bronze, with a double matte and shiny patina.

This clock was made to celebrate the birth of the son of Napoleon I and Marie-Louise of Austria in 1811. It addresses the theme of motherhood by showing the intimate relationship between a mother and her baby she is breastfeeding in an elegant setting, on a precious sofa decorated with lion heads.
The trapezoidal base in bronze with a brown patina welcoming the movement, is embellished with decorations of the Goat Amalthea suckling Jupiter and is supported by 4 winged lions.

Original wire movement, overhauled, in perfect working order, with its key and pendulum.

Very high quality of carving, original gilding.

1st Empire period, early 19th century.
