"Louis XVI Style Chiseled Gilt Bronze Chandelier With Cut Crystal Decoration Circa 1870"
Louis XVI style chiseled gilt bronze chandelier with cut crystal decoration circa 1870
A magnificent chandelier in bronze finely chiseled with Acanthus leaves, trilobate motifs, interlacing, and gilded. Our chandelier is decorated in the center with a bronze vase painted in the blue of Sèvres porcelain. The upper part of the chandelier presents birds' heads holding in the beak a system of finely chiseled bronze chains. It illuminates by twelve arms of light, on two levels, in twisted bronze finished by richly chiseled bronze bobèches. Beautiful decoration of cut crystal, such as plates, half-pears, stars, and daisies, to finish an important ball in cut crystal.
Our chandelier is an inspiration of the great Louis XVI chandelier adorning the Salon des Nobles of the Château de Versailles. Beautiful French work, of a superb quality of execution, manufactured in the mid-19th century circa 1850-1870.
