"Portrait Of A Young Princess. Claude Deruet (1588-1660) And Workshop"
French school of the early 17th century Oil on oak panel In its original 17th century frame, in wood veneered with olive burl interspersed with black moldings (very beautiful model) Total dimensions: 58 x 51 cm. The panel alone: 31 x 26 cm Claude Deruet (circa 1588-1660) was a 17th century Baroque painter from Lorraine, originally from Nancy. Few elements of his life are known to date, but we do know that he painted, among other things, portraits of famous women dressed in generally rich costumes and adorned with beautiful jewelry (especially pearls). His works are all more or less of the same format. The panel we are presenting today is fully in line with the production given to the artist and its quality is particularly meticulous. The small impastos found all over the costume, the realistic modeling of the face as well as the interesting psychology of the character which shines through, make it a "special" painting. Good state of conservation. Sold with invoice & certificate
