"Lampong Skirt In Cotton Embroidered With Gold And Silver Yarns - Sumatra Indonesia Late 19th Century"
Circa 1900 Indonesia, South Sumatra Beautiful ceremonial skirt from the Lampong region in South Sumatra which gave its name to this type of piece and dating from the 1900s. frame (Gros de Tours?). Colors in vegetable dyes in shades of madder red, indigo, yellow and brown. Entirely embroidered with silver and gold blade yarn decorated with stripes with geometric patterns and applications of green and red felt. Application of golden threads with daisy motifs. Skirt made up of two full lengths with selvedges, sewn before embroidery. A few small pulled threads and micro stains here and there to stabilize, however no holes or major defects. Good general condition of color and conservation. Dimensions: Width 107 cm Length 135 cm in 2 sewn strips.
