FRENCH SCHOOL OF THE END OF THE 19th century

"The blacksmith's workshop"

Oil on canvas,
Unsigned,
Illegible inscription with date on the back on the frame,

Beautiful work from the French school of the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century which represents the workshop of a blacksmith or farrier. The artist was able to transcribe with talent the atmosphere of the place by playing on the contrasts of light; and he took care to detail all the tools present in a forge: the anvil, the pliers, the horseshoes, the hammers...

The foreground shows us the interior of the forge and a worker discussing with a woman on the corner of her stall in front of the studio window.
The second plan represents a person working in the hearth of the forge.

Dimensions: 68 x 56 cm without frame and 82 x 70 cm with its original frame in gilded wood (many accidents and alterations to the frame).
It is possible to send only the canvas without frame.
