Beautiful work by the painter Henry Maurice Cahours which represents a view of the bay of Douarnenez bustling with fishermen in their boats.
Henry Maurice Cahours moved to Paris in 1916 after his marriage to the daughter of the sculptor Frédéric Debon, in Pissarro's studio and rubbed shoulders with the painters Utrillo, Max Jacob and Derain in Montmartre.
It was during this period that the painter began to stay in Douarnenez.
He took part in the Salon des Artistes Français in 1920 then in the Salon des Indépendants in 1922 and until 1942.
In 1960, he moved to Vence and succeeded in taming the light of Provence, which was said to be "too harsh" for Impressionism.
His paintings are critically acclaimed for having great sensitivity.
