Fishing Boats In Front Of A City. 17th Century Dutch School. flag

Object description :

"Fishing Boats In Front Of A City. 17th Century Dutch School."
17th century period, circa 1650 Oil on oak panel, one board. Old frame in red tortoiseshell interspersed with blackened and guilloché wooden strips Total dimensions with frame: 44 x 54 cm. Single panel: 23 x 34 cm This view of an estuary near a village is typical of the art of the Dutch Golden Age. Carefully composed, this seascape is strongly inspired by reality, but does not seek to be a faithful representation of it. It is first a question of moving and transmitting a poetic vision full of melancholy of the usual environment of the painter. He shows us an estuary with a few fishing boats floating on calm water, on the right on the shore a fortified house emerges from a clump of trees. The horizon stretches out in the distance revealing a small town with its bell tower and mills. Apart from the two red jackets of the fishermen, the palette remains in shades of gray, brown, white allowing to be in harmony with the blue sky which is established on three-quarters of the painting. Very good state of conservation. Sold with invoice & certificate
