It recounts a historical event of 1745: The marriage of Louis Dauphin of France, son of Louis XV with Marie-Thérèse Infante of Spain. This ceremony was ordered by the Duke of Richelieu and took place in the Grande Ecurie de Versailles. This engraving can be seen at the Louvre Museum in Paris and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, among others.
