"The mouth of the Liamone, Corsica"

Oil on canvas,
Signed lower right,

Beautiful luminous work with strong contrast, by the Corsican painter Lucien PERI which represents a view of the Liamone in Corsica.

Our painting is similar to the work of Lucien Peri "La Liamone" (Donation Ollandini 2007) which is kept at the Palais Fesch in Ajaccio.

Lucien Peri made his first contribution to the Salon of the National Society of Fine Arts in 1910. After 1920, he distinguished himself each year at the exhibitions of this society and in 1935 won the gold medal of the Salon with Les lavandières de Porticcio.
Peri painted the most famous places, as well as the most isolated and natural places of Corsica.
Lucien Peri's painting has been distributed by various means: lithographs, chromos photographs and posters for the PLM company (Paris Lyon Méditerranée).
The artist also illustrates books: Corsica by Raoul Blanchard, in 1926 and Corsica by Lorenzi de Bradi, in 1936. His watercolors and paintings can be found in magazines such as L'Illustration or La Corse touristique.

Landscape painter, adept at working in the field, Lucien Peri makes drawings in pencil and grease pencil, sometimes in charcoal or watercolor. This work is then taken up in the studio to develop works according to the desired format. Lucien Peri is distinguished by his technique, he passes easily from the lightness of hue and manner in his watercolors to darker and more pasty touches for his oils although they were often very small in size. However, all his works are characterized by an unfinished appearance and high speed of execution. Journalist Martin Baretti writes that Peri was “an incomparable landscape painter whose art is situated under the reign of speed”. (Palais Fesch, Ajaccio)
