The empire mantel clock “Venus with the harp” is made with gilt bronze by the clockmaker Jean-André Lepaute. Together with his younger brother Jean-Baptiste Lepaute, they were founders of an outstanding French clockmaker dynasty of their day, holding the brevet horlogers du Roi.
The clock has a beautiful white enamel dial. On the clock is the display of the lyre-playing Venus in robe. The presentation received very fine, elegant and modern with the rich use of gloss and matt gold. The circular enamel dial with Roman numeral chapter ring, with pierced hands, signed Lepaute à Paris.
