"Gothic Pendulum "a La Cathedrale" Around 1840, Ht 54."
Pendulum "at the Cathedral" Gothic in gilded bronze with mercury, very beautiful gilding of matte and brilliant origin, and patinated bronze. Early Louis-Philippe 1840, model listed in the Kjellberg page 450, Fig B, a similar model appears at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Sympathetic double ringing hour and a half simultaneously on the bell of the movement and on the bell on the top (see photo n ° 7) Watch movement with a Gothic style balance, 2 keys provided. Openwork dial in gilded bronze with mercury on silver-plated bronze support, original Henri II hands. Pendulum composed of about 75 pieces, a magnificent work, very beautiful quality of the set. Chateaubriand, Victor Hugo by his novel Notre-Dame de Paris published in 1831 contributed to this growing influence of the Gothic since the reign of Charles X.
